Kommunity

Our Patron

‘I was a barefoot, township urchin. I wish that such an aide had been available in my day.’

Archbishop Desmond Tutu chose to become our Patron as he knows through first-hand experience how difficult it is to learn without the use of a desk, having experienced the negative affect of classroom desk shortages on education both as a learner and later as a teacher.

Archbishop Tutu played a unifying role in the history of South Africa, promoting peace and equality during the Apartheid Era. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 in recognition of his efforts, and was elected Archbishop of Cape Town, becoming head of the Anglican Church in South Africa in 1986. In 1995, he was selected to chair the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa.

The Archbishop understands that our work is providing the children of the world with a vastly improved educational experience. The provision of Kommunity Desks provides a unique, practical and innovative solution to learners, teachers and Education Ministries alike in a proven programme of work that is both relevant and dignified, ensuring a better chance to succeed in the improvement of educational upliftment for all of the beneficiaries.

How many other solutions can claim a Nobel Peace Prize-winning advocate as their Patron?
